This study examines the impact of ChatGPT use on learning motivation among
university students majoring in finance. In this mixed-methods study, quantitative data
were analysed through statistical analyses and qualitative data were analysed through
thematic analysis. Findings from 359 undergraduate students across Türkiye indicate that
ChatGPT use has a generally positive impact on students’ learning motivation. Participants
stated that features such as clear explanations and quick access to information increased
their motivation, while the impact on academic performance varied depending on the
method of use. The study findings highlight the need for policies and practices to integrate
AI tools more effectively with pedagogical objectives in higher education.
