Midhat Cemal Kuntay as a Aphorism Writer

Abstract

Midhat Cemal Kuntay is a versatile literary personality who has produces works of literary from many different forms of literature. Among his Works are poem, monograpy and novel. He also tried his hand on writing play, trial, criticism and anthological work as well as writing textbooks and writing on a daily collumn on a magazine. One of the main characteristic of his proses is aphorism that he uses frequently. Midhat Cemal, besides using the form of aphorism in his own works, he also gave works on the idea of saying much with few words. In this study how understanding and usage of aphorism that might be seen as the manifestation from The West in the process of Westernization/Modernization finds place on theory and practice in the works of Midhat Cemal Kuntay is examined.
