Psychoanalysis is an interdisciplinary branch of science based on Sigmund Freud’s
theories and subconscious fantasies. Psychoanalytic art and literary criticism, examples
of which can be seen in world literature, has become an important field of research in our
country in recent years. The works of Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar are ideal examples of this
literary theory applied to the works of many poets and writers in Turkish literature. These
obsessions, some of which reach phobic and depressive points, are clearly encountered
in Hacı Vamık Efendi, one of the heroes novels. In this study, the psychological state of
Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar will be examined based on the statements of his friends and witnesses
and the ways in which some of his strange habits are reflected in the novel Çamlıca’daki
Eniştemiz will be analyzed. In this study, the theoretical framework will be determined
by providing information about the application forms and types of psychoanalytic literary
theory. In addition, based on the findings in the novel Çamlıca’daki Eniştemiz and the
statements of the authors’ friends and witnesses, the reflection of some strange habits on
the work and the hero of the novel is analyzed from a psychoanalytical perspective.
