Abstract

Islam, religion of peace, has been portrayed as a religion of war after the cold war, especially after the second half of the XX. Century. Today, powers who hold media and communication toolsportrait Islam as a religion of war and terror by using and generalizing some small and local incidents. Some extremist actions of small number of Muslims cannot represent the whole Muslims around the world. Those who accept scientific way as a base for true knowledge should gain the true knowledge and sense about Islam directly from its religious texts. The most important step to do that is analyzing the Qur’an, which is the main source of Islam, studying the life of the Prophet (pbuh) and analyzing his words and actions. It is an obligation for Muslims to use the media in all sorts to change this negative perception to a positive one. At this paper, it is tried to answer to those kinds of allegations by utilizing the main source of Islam, practices of the Prophet and views of Muslim scholars about peace in Islam.
