Abstract

For some "language" mainly denotes "grammar" and the importance of literature aspect of language is usually neglected. When literature education is considered independent of linguistics and literary theories, only etymologic, syntactic research, such as research on nouns, adjectives, consonants etc. is left. In literature education, the first thing that should be considered is theoretical approaches such as linguistics, semiotics, aesthetics, hermeneutics and intertextual relations. Etymological studies and word analysis should not be underestimated but we must state that literature education is not limited to word analysis. Literature education is the area in which aesthetical pleasure and personal holistic behaviors are gained and it leads to creative works. Curriculum of 1929 emphasized these points. In this study, based on curriculum of 1929, how we should consider literacy education is explained.
