Abstract

Postpartum depression is a psychological process that occurs after childbirth and
shows a pattern similar to depression. This process is not only limited to women with
postpartum depression, but can also cause negative consequences that can affect the
baby, spouse, family and even society. Due to the aforementioned critical situations, this
study was conducted with the basic assumption that there are psychological interventions
for postpartum depression and that the use of these interventions should increase. In the
studies this paper mentions, care was taken to ensure that the conductors were people
working in the field of mental health and the sample of the studies consisted of participants
who did not receive drug treatment. Considering these criteria, it was seen that there
were psychological interventions with Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy. When the studies in the literature are brought together, it is seen
that psychological interventions for postpartum depression reduce the symptoms of
depression and are very effective methods for women experiencing this condition. This
review will both contribute to the literature and offer solutions to women with postpartum
depression, as it shows the psychological methods that are effective in working with
women with postpartum depression. On the other hand, the limited number of studies
conducted in this context requires a deeper and more detailed examination of the subject.
