Abstract

This article focuses mainly on the tafsir movement emerged in Indonesia which is one of the East Asian countries and products of that movement. Although Quranic education began with the Islamization of the region, commentaries and translations of Quran in Bahasa appeared only afterwards. We, on the other hand observe an increase and variation in the tafsirs written in and translated into Bahasa in the recent times. The work treats all these subjects in a concise manner as it informs of the tafsirs published in the region and their writers (mufassirs) in a chronological order.
